JIU JITSU
Jiu jitsu is at its core is a martial art that teaches students to takedown an attacker or larger opponent, take away their ability to strike by utilizing dominant position, and finally search for a submission. The idea of jiu jitsu is to find and use leverage in order to use joint locks and chokeholds to control an opponent. Jiu Jitsu demonstrates to students how to use their opponent’s energy against them in order to gain an advantage, rather than relying on physical strength or size. Jiu jitsu overtime, teaches the ability to think on your feet, remain calm in a stressful situation, and to clearly and concisely make good decisions while keeping a calm demeanor.
A full body workout while the intricacies of the sport require you strategize and remain cerebral throughout the entirety of class. The beginning of class starts with the functional practice and drilling of jiu jitsu technique. Each class students pair up with a partner and safely drills the technique of the day. Either offensive or defense from the feet or on the ground, top position or bottom position. Students will learn high level strategies and have the opportunity to try out these strategies themselves during live training and preset drills.
Our adult jiu jitsu classes are offered 7 days a week. Offering both Gi and NoGi classes our students have a well rounded, realistic grasp of self defense situations.
Some students train for stress relief or better health. Some students train for fun and camaraderie. Others train to become champions.
